Rev Up Your Redesign Revenue with Jackson West!

Our dear friend and colleague Jackson West is speaking at the RESA convention on February 2nd.  The topic is “Rev Up Your Redesign”.  Knowing Jackson, he can rev up anything in the world of design. Unfortunately, due to previous commitments I am unable to be at the convention.  I was very much looking forward to hearing Jackson speak.  If you are attending the convention, put that on your MUST DO list.  Here’s a little video with a bit of an overview of the presentation.

I would really appreciate it if anyone attending could let me know how it goes.

Good Balance In a Small Space!

As Vancouverites, we give up square footage for the beauty of west coast living. Small spaces can be very tricky and frustrating to decorate. The most important thing to remember is balance, if you’re living in a small space, your furniture should be the appropriate size. Such as using condo size chairs instead of oversized loungers. Having the right size furniture can make a small room feel just right! Fluffian – Alaina Gordon

Extend Your Holiday Joy

I love Christmas and I had a good one this year.  Staging during the holiday season is always a little tricky, because you don’t want to do a total switch out of festive inventory after January 1st.  So adding a few little details here and there that the realtor can just slip into a drawer makes a big difference.  Everyone loves a little sparkle during the holiday season. Mortgage Rates Hit A New Low

Canadian banks have posted mortgage rates at record lows for consumers with BMO’s four-year rates as low as 2.99 %.  Due to the current economic state,  Canadian banks are being funded by greater international interest in Canadian bonds as they are being percieved as safer than other countries. This is beneficial for our real estate market as more people will be interested in buying property. Other banks are following suit with offers ending in late January and February. This is the ideal time to list your property if you are looking to sell.

The new designs from Nama Rococo have finally come. Always organic and free-flowing, Karen’s latest designs continue with a sophisticated-but-fun color palette. Her latest patterns are called “Amsterdam” and “Shuboes.” Inspired by flora, lava flows and Gaudi’s Barcelona apartment buildings, “Shuboes” is described as a “flower power cocktail with a dash of biomorphism and a twist of Ring of Fire.”

“Amsterdam” was inspired by both the rooflines of Dutch 18th-century canal homes and David Bowie’s songs (what’s not to love in that combo?). The soft neutral color palette captures that yellow, dusty Dutch light perfectly. You can pick up sheets of both styles (and existing Nama Rococo styles) right here for $126 per sheet.

Don’t Let Your House Be Judged by Its’ “Cover”

When putting up your property for sale, the outside landscape is an important factor to consider, and often times it is over looked.  If you think about it, a prospective buyer’s opinion begins the second they pull up to the property. Simple things like over grown trees, uncut grass, weeds and old house paint can deter a buyer from entering your home.  All of the above items can be easily fixed if you are willing to tend to them, but if not call a local landscaper.

Below are some before and after landscaping photos to show the difference that landscaping can make.

Mixing Design Styles

“My favourite thing to do in design is mixing of different styles. Whether it is an amazing vintage console amongst a room full of contemporary living room furniture or rustic dining chairs paired with a modern glass table I love testing the boundaries and thinking outside of the box. When the amalgamation of styles is done properly the end result exudes personal style and individually.” Fluffian – Kyla Ray

Modern Nostalgia

“This has been one of my favorite projects to work on. Entering this home, is like stepping back in time, circa 1950’s. Orange, avocado, brown, teak, and velvet are in abundance. All of the appliances are original, and the furniture is in immaculate condition.  We could have asked the clients to put everything in storage and stage the home with Fluff’s furniture, but we thought we would embrace what this house had to offer, and really have fun with it. I think that the outcome reflects the personality of this space, and has just the right amount of modern accents. Fluffian – Jennie Wyse

6) Patio furniture- lounge, dinning or both if you have room.

7) Industrial wood and metal is a great look.

9) Retro-tastic!

10) Flower power

11) Bronze and Copper – the new Chrome!

12) You smile, we smile :)

Bringing Indoor Elements Outdoors

“Winter is on its way out and I, like so many people, can’t stop thinking about spending more time out on the patio. For years we have been hearing about bringing the outdoor elements indoors. Now more than ever it’s all about bringing the indoor elements outdoors. I think it’s safe to say that all of us here at Fluff are thrilled about that. Don’t just brave the elements this year. Embrace them with the same comfort and luxury as your home. By creating a relaxing and comfortable outdoor space you not only add an additional room to your house but you create your own personal oasis that is literally at your fingertips. Live outdoors this summer… in style.” Fluffian – Mitchell Dyck
