For this contest, consumers were encouraged to visit the HP Store to record a video expressing why they deserved to win the makeover package. The makeover package included a HP laptop, TouchPad tablet, Monitor, HP Photosmart 7510 printer, Adobe Photoshop CS5 software, HP Store Gift Card and accessories. Most of all, the winner got a design consultation and furniture package from Fluff Designs!
After HP selected the winner, Trent, our team of designers quickly visited his home and did the initial site visit. During the visit, we discovered that Trent did not have a work room or den in his apartment. Because of the limited space, our designers decided to create his office along his living room wall. Trent is an urban and trendy young adult so his office had to reflect his style and personality. We incorporated two tall wooden bookcases, a 5′ x 2.5′ glass top desk, a chrome desk lamp, a comfortable high back leather chair, a filing cabinet and to top it off some fun modern accessories. Our designers arranged all the furniture to maintain the balance of the room. The result looked amazing. Trent was very happy to receive his prize since he recently got accepted to BCIT in the Engineering Program. We have captured some snapshopts of his new office and we are sharing it with you.
Thank you HP for giving us this opportunity to help Trent! For those of you who want to see the winning video, click on the video below!

From Hazel:
“My love for stop motion animation began when I was studying in art and design school, for part-time work during this time I worked in a photography shop. My love for photography and filming often influenced and inspired me within my college projects. I loved this animation as soon as I saw it, I loved the link to childhood toys, classic games. I especially like the bit when the dice are melting and the numbers on the face decrease in value, I also really like the post-it note butter. There is a whole series PEZ stop motion animation films, all of them are really impressive.”
From Mitchel:
“With Christmas right around the corner it was hard not to be inspired by this beautiful work of art. This tree is the world’s largest glass tree and was designed by the group of world famous Venetian glass blowers from the island of Murano. It’s design, created by Simone Cenedese, is a modern interpretation of the traditional colours and symbols of the holiday season. At a height of 7.5 meters, it weighs in at a mere 3 tonnes. Not exactly the type of tree my parents used to strap to the roof of our station wagon. Wishing us all a little Murano glass on our tree this year…”
From Shane:
“A couple weeks ago, I discovered Fred Herzog, an amazing and under recognized colour photographer. As soon as I googled him and saw a few of his vintage photos, I knew I needed to see more. I ran out and bought his book and have been blown away by the textures and vivid colours that he captured through out his life. What’s most inspiring is that Herzog is primarily a Vancouver artist that captured some of the only professional photos of everyday life in 20th century Vancouver. His images are thoughtful, educational and truly, inspirational.”

From Jennie:
“I love the idea of being able to take an everyday object, and use it in a way that you wouldn’t think of. It enables that viewer to look at something in a new way, and hopefully inspire them.”
From Kristen:
“The days are getting shorter, the nights cooler, which is the official start of hibernation for me. My inspiration for this month is my idea of the perfect space to stow away for the winter. The Hudson Passive Project provides me with a cozy chair, floor to ceiling windows, amazing views, vaulted ceilings and hopefully some hot buttered rum. The planning that has gone into space is amazing, as the site has been chosen based on the way that the sun moves across the sky, the vegetation, winter winds which all maximizes its ability to heat and cool itself. I am ready to move in… see you guys in the spring.”
From Stephanie:
“Taking the shape of a seashell, this sink brings ocean life to land. With water flowing down the spiral drain this design turns a sink into a fun & creative focal point.”

Other than Inspiration Mondays, which involve things I find interesting both online and elsewhere, Fluff is doing Fluffians Inspiration Tuesdays. At Fluff, we have Inspiration Tuesday meetings every week and every Fluffian has to bring in something that inspires or intrigues them and share it with other Fluffians. We are now doing something a little different. We choose 3 inspiration pieces at the meeting and share them here, and then blog visitors can comment/vote on the inspiration piece that speaks to them most. The exciting part is that the inspiration piece with the most comments/votes will win and the Fluffian that shared it will receive a prize. Most of all, one of the voters of that inspiration piece (he/she will be picked randomly) will win a prize as well. Isn’t that exciting? Tell your friends to get ready because the Fluffians Inspiration Tuesdays will start in October! Contestants must be Canadian residents and winners must provide a valid Canadian mailing address in order to obtain prizes.

As a teaser, we will share Hazel’s inspiration today (sorry Hazel, no prize this time). Her inspiration is the Hungarian Library with a “beehive”.
She loves that the first image looks like a 2D piece of art but it is actually the view up through the beehive with in the second image the sheer size of the building is more apparent. Construction with no straight edges fascinate her, the mathematics involved in making sure that all surfaces meet. She was also impressed by the tiling.
