Here is a great idea to keep you organized while moving. At your current home, go through your kitchen making a note on a post-it of every item category you have in the kitchen, for example; Dry Goods, Canned Goods, Coffee Mugs, etc. Then at the new place these post-it notes on the appropriate cabinet, and unpack accordingly. When organizing your new kitchen for functionality it is a lot easier to move post-it notes around at the beginning than it is to move cupboard contents after the move in.

Only 6 more sleeps! Although my family and I are so excited to move into our newly renovated home it is with mixed emotions. I can’t imagine starting my day without a visit with our incredible crew. (I feel like my kids are leaving home!) They really did make our dreams come true. I can’t thank them enough for all their amazing attention to detail, the heart and soul they contributed and translating my ideas into reality.
It made me smile when I saw their new sandwich board today with an image of our gorgeous front door.

Progress is happening so quickly now. We are in the final stretch! Here is what’s happened in the last couple of days.
1. The fireplaces are in and functioning.
2. The glass “barn doors” are in my office and the kitchen. I love these!
3. The glass back-splash is up (and almost complete)
4. Because of my store design background I couldn’t resist using retail fixtures in the walk-in closet. It is just so functional and flexible. I highly recommend it.
5. The glass skylights over the new deck extensions are now in. We had the heaters cranked up the other night. It was so cozy!
Is this pre-mature?

The house is getting so close to being ready, and we are excited! The other night we sat on the patio and had a cocktail. Although it is still a construction site we just couldn’t resist, it could be a little pre-mature… We packed a small picnic and as you can tell enjoyed the fantastic sunset! Living here is going to be amazing.
We’re so close…

We are getting so close! I can’t even explain how incredible our crew has been. They have made this process almost enjoyable. Although I will be so glad to be finished and living in our wonderful new home I will surely miss the crew. The occasional after work beer has been so nice to get to know them personally. We have experienced weddings (x2), birth of a beautiful little baby girl, a Christening, meeting fabulous out-of-town relatives and so many other events. I truly want to keep in touch with them and am so grateful for all the sincere care they have given to this project.
Stay tuned for more photos of the project as the final touches are put in place, it is coming together beautifully!!
The Entrance Way…

The entrance way to your home could arguably be the most important part of the home. It should create a gateway for good energy according to feng shui. The main door is where good fortune chi is meant to enter, creating a gathering place for positive energy for you, your family and visitors. I feel it sets the tone when you are entering your home and should be something that inspires, welcomes, and makes you feel at home. All that being said I *LOVE* my new front door, it still has to be stained and the hardware has to be added, but it’s beautiful… I couldn’t bear to have a mail slot cut into it so there isn’t one. The door was custom-made at Jim’s Pre-Hung Doors, and they did a fabulous job. Stay tuned for more pictures with the hardware when the door is installed!
