Sunshine Coast encounter!

Rick and I have been trying to get up to the Sunshine Coast for several months and we finally booked it.  In the past, we have stayed at Tuwanek Hotel (www.tuwanekhotel.com) and it has been so great in the past we decided to try it again. We certainly weren’t disappointed.

When we got off the ferry we stopped in Gibson’s for a little lunch. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the artist’s walk was on (I am not sure this was as much of a highlight for Rick as it was for me). The most enjoyable and inspiring stop was at Ursela’s felt studio. My goodness, this woman’s creations were so magnificent. I highly recommend you seeking her out if you are in Gibsons.

Next stop was to see Sharon’s new store – Upstage.  We all know Sharon for her staging business on Sechelt but she has now expanded and opened a retail location. It is so incredibly cute. Anyone could find something wonderful to take home from her inventory mix.  Friends of ours have moved to the coast from West Vancouver so we stopped and had tea with them. They have definitely embraced the “Coast” lifestyle. And then off to Nirvana aka Tuwanek Hotel.  I highly recommend a getaway weekend to this charming hotel. The service is impeccable.

Fluff in Denver?

I found Fluff in Denver, Colorado! I was walking down Wazaa Street in Denver and I saw a space being renovated with a Fluff sign. What did I do? Walk right in and talk to the people! I found out that Fluff* Bar has a unique business model just as we do at Fluff Designs. Fluff* Bar offers services such as blow-dries, manicures and full make-up while enjoying a glass of wine, champagne or cocktail. They are opening for business in this month. Fluff* Bar is located on 1516 Wazee Street. I am sure I will visit them once they are up and running. They are doing a countdown on their website. I am so looking forward to it.

To Penticton With Sun, a lot of Sun

What an amazing few days! The sun is with us every step of the way. Our first stop was China Ridge. Rick and I have skied there with fresh powder. The view is incredible and not even a single person can be seen. It was a trip I will never forget. We thought it would be great to experience the same terrain on our bikes.

Next stop was Blue Mountain Winery. It is definitely one of my favourite wineries in the Okanagan. Stocked up with some Pino Gris, Chardonnay and their Brut is supposed to be fabulous. Back on the bikes and pedaled through orchards, vineyards and vast farms.

It’s the first time we have been to the Okanagan in the fall and I was so amazed by the abundance; apples, grapes, peaches and red peppers.

The sites and smells were amazing. We had planned to bike the Kettle Valley Railway trail but unfortunately 2 flat tires forced us to stroke that off our list of activities. A quick visit with good friends, loaded up the car with fruit and veggies and back home in time for dinner on the deck.
